Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacing teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. A person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.
Once you learn about dental implants, it can provide a doorway to renewed self-confidence and peace of mind. We understand how tooth loss can affect self- confidence, ability to eat and may discourage you from smiling. You are not alone, Dr. Calat helps people with these problems every day.
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the area where teeth are missing. They act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Dental implants are stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.
Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, Dr. Calat is able to place single stage implants or even immediate implants. In many cases the implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth is removed – further minimizing the number of surgical procedures. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them. Dr. Calat’s experience and specialty training, allows him to extract teeth and place implants with crowns at one visit. This procedure is called “immediate loading.”
Once the implants are beneath the surface of the gums they begin bonding with the jawbone. After the implant has bonded to the jaw, an abutment and final crown is placed on the implant by your dentist.
Don’t worry, at no time will you be without a tooth. A temporary tooth or flipper can be made that appears and functions normally. Most patients experience minimal to no disruption in their daily life and are smiling with confidence as they leave the office.
The number of implants you may need varies depending upon the condition of your mouth and which type of treatment is recommended. Dr. Calat will discuss all available treatment options and will help you decide your best course of care. Below please find a basic explanation of treatment options available at our office.
There are several reasons: Why sacrifice the structure of adjacent healthy teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a “partial” at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing. Most patients find proper hygiene very difficult with bridges and dentures. Since bridges and dentures do not stimulate the jawbone, it melts away over time leading to changes in your natural facial contours. Dental implants allow you to maintain your existing bone and smile with confidence.
If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If your mouth is presently not ideal for implants, Dr. Calat can create a custom treatment solution for your situation. We have many comfortable ways of achieving your desired outcome.

Once the implants are in place and with proper care, they will serve you well for many years. This means taking the time for good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) and keeping regular appointments with your dentist.
A Swedish scientist and orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Per-Ingvar Branemark, developed this concept for oral rehabilitation more than thirty-five years ago. With his pioneering research, Dr. Branemark opened the door to a lifetime of renewed comfort and self-confidence for millions of individuals facing the frustration and embarrassment.
